Getting On (Series 3) – Vera Productions

The award-winning, critically-acclaimed BBC Four comedy series is back for a third series.

Jo Brand (who co-writes and stars in the sitcom) won the Bafta award for Best Female Performance in a Comedy Role for the previous series.

Getting On offers a bittersweet look inside a female medical ward at King Edward VIIIth hospital, a backwater within a backwater, of the health service.

The series was directed by Sue Tully and shot with two Sony PDW800s.

Casper Leaver continues in his role as director of photography, with Paul Bamford operating the second camera and Chris Dunford assisting.

Freeview Promo – Silver Fish Media

Nick Helm Blaps – Baby Cow

Comedy Blaps is Channel 4′s new vehicle for delivering fresh comedy talent in moreish, bite-sized chunks!!

Nick Helms show was produced by Ali Carron and directed by Jon Riche.

DoP, Jeremy Hewson shot the film on the Arri Alexa, with Tim Gee pulling focus, James Abbott the DiT and Stu Piggott on sound.

Electra Staff News – Damien Leonard’s Wedding

En masse, the Electra staff surged into a plush Mayfair venue, to make sure Damien married the lovely Jenny! He did…..and a lovely time was had by all!!

We’d dusted off hideous looking suits from the 1980’s, some made from 100% polyester, some from canvas and some knitted!! Crispins looked pretty modern, as it was purchased for a recent court appearance…..

Rumour had it, Doug bought a round of drinks, we think unlikely, and Steve kept his clothes on for a change!!! The kit room staff brought their partners, proving that they were all punching above their weights!

TOWIW ( The Only Way is Wessex ) – BBC Comedy Online

A spoof of the show, The Only Way is Essex, shot on location was produced and directed by Francis Gilson for BBC Online.

DoP Jeremy Hewson, operator Ian Pearce, sound recordist Stu Piggott and assistant Alex Took used as much ‘available light’ and reflectors to enhance the two Panasonic 101′s film look.

John Le Mesurier – BBC Entertainment

Producer/Director Lucy Kenwright has put together another one of her usual high brow entertainment documentaries, on the comedy actor – John Le Mesurier.

DoP, Jon Wood shot the UK interviews on digi beta, but did have the luxury of a pro35 adaptor and Zeiss Superspeed lenses, for a shallow depth of field look.
Sound recordists across the shoots were David Ferguson, Stu Piggott and Phil Bax.

Sport Relief – BBC & Red Bee Media

Electra were thrilled to be involved with Sport Relief for another year.

We shot a variety of sequences for Sport Relief this year. The main event, on three HDCAM cameras in the James Bond pool stage at Pinewood, for Strictly Underwater Come Dancing, along with our sister company Off Trax – who provided a Jimmy Jib.

We had a second day with the Horrible Histories team and Stephen Fry.

We were also fortunate enough to shoot the Sport Relief promos for Red Bee Media, on the Arri Alexa at the McLaren factory, with Jenson Button and Jo Brand. An additional day with David Tennant on the ‘Tommy’ promo proved successful.

The promos were directed by Ben Winston

DoP on all the shoots, was Pete Rowe. The camera department was made up of: Ali Upcraft, Nick Lawton, Ben Banayo, Alison Streatfield and Jon Dennis, the Jimmy Jib operator and Martin Taylor the gaffer.
